For the fourth consecutive year, Parque EXPO will be present at the International Fair of Algiers, between the 2nd and 7th of June, in Algiers.
This year the National Pavilion, comprising an area of 550 m2, will host 25 Portuguese companies, from sectors boasting strong implementation potential in the Algerian market, such as services, consulting, civil engineering and public works, and industrial equipments.
For this 2010 edition, the Portuguese representation will also host products and services which will be able to benefit from the positive environment enjoyed by the Portuguese business presence in Algiers, where Parque EXPO holds a special relevance due to the development of the Plan Directeur, d'Urbanisme et d'Aménagement de la Wilaya de Alger (PDAU), a project sponsored by the Urbanism Directorate of Wilaya.
Algeria has been steadily reinforcing its position as a Portuguese business partner, enjoying a surplus in the trade balance with Portugal as a result of the importance of these countries' export of natural gas to Portugal (number 1 supplier). The Portuguese exports to Algeria have been growing consistently during these past years, having reached a value close to 150 million Euros for the period between January and August 2009, an increase of 17.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. Capital goods and intermediate products are of special relevance in the structure of our exports to Algeria.
The International Fair of Algiers is the most relevant and significant business event in the country, having been hosted annually since 1967. The 42nd edition, held in 2009, received a total of 1,317 exhibitors; of these, 448 were from Algeria while the remaining 870 were from abroad. It received more than 200,000 visitors, 73,000 of which were trade professionals, and comprised a total area of 67,217 m2, with 35,237 m2 for the local Algerian exhibitors and 31,980 m2 for international exhibitors.
