The Espinho City Council awarded Parque EXPO a contract to design and plan an Operational Plan to renew the coastline of Espinho County and its articulation with that city’s surrounds.
Planning is projected to take five months and the envisaged Operation Plan calls for the setting out of priority areas for intervention and definition of their functionality, the definition of projects and a range of promotional actions to foster urban rehabilitation in the area together with definition of its respective implementation strategy and methodology, and the design of action plans that cater for all envisaged operations, including their time scheduling, associated public and private investment requirements, provisional project planning, and schedule of potential sources from which funding may be sourced, namely in the form of business revenues, council income, and available EU funding. Ultimately, an economic and financial feasibility study to execute the envisaged intervention, together with an institutional implementation plan, will be delivered.
The intervention area extends over a total of 41.1 hectares and includes a 6-kilometre long stretch of seafront. It features a fishing district, a social housing development, the Paramos property development, and a number of facilities such as a football stadium, the Solário Atlântico swimming pool, a casino, a municipal museum, and the Iberian Peninsula’s oldest golf course.
