Parque EXPO has won the international public tender for the urban rehabilitation operations in a key district of one of the main cities of Morocco: the Medina of Mèknes.
Under the tutelage of the European Investment Bank (EIB), the study's global objective, through a process of identification, analysis and evaluation of the operational perimeter for the Medina of Mèknes, is to identify the instruments and procedures which contribute to the requalification and revalorisation of the Medina, with a focus on the improvement of the quality of life and well-being of the resident population and of its economical and touristic attractiveness.
With a time frame for completion of 9 months, the project will require the creation of a local team with a strong and consistent presence of Portuguese technicians in the country, working together with the Moroccan authorities responsible for the urban requalification and revalorisation of one of the central spaces of the Medina of Mèknes: the Tizimi neighbourhood.
With this project, Parque Expo, within its framework for the strategic development of its international activity, reinforces its presence in nearby target markets due to its given location in the Maghreb - the so called "neighbouring" region of the European Union -, as well as through the opportunity presented, together with the company’s prospective participation in studies and projects dealing with the conception and implementation of public policies and projects for land planning, development and valorisation.
Parque EXPO is the only Portuguese company, and one of the few European companies of its nature, which is certified for the survey, conception and management of urban renovation and environmental requalification projects.
Parque EXPO is strongly committed to an internationalisation process, being involved in intervention projects in Algeria, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, China, Mozambique and Tunisia.
